  4. The gauntlet has been thrown down.  We've all heard about who's
  5. tools are best.  Now's the time to come to the table.  So send your
  6. best "Knight", to take up the challenge in the 1992 Developer's
  7. Competition.
  8.  
  9. The upcoming 1992 Developer's Competition is sure to be one of the
  10. highlights of the year.  It was one of the most exciting and fun
  11. events of 1991.  If you believe that your product is the best
  12. database application development tool, Why not prove it at the 1992
  13. Developer's Competition and possibly win one of the cash prizes? 
  14. In any case, you will walk away with a great time, and enough
  15. evaluation software to make your participation worthwhile.

  17. The competition will take place October 9th and 10th, 1992 in
  18. Durham, North Carolina and will pit 100 software developers against
  19. one another as they attempt to build a database application in 6
  20. hours.   Each competitor will consist of a team of one or two
  21. persons using a variety of database application software,
  22. languages, and third party products.  Only one CPU, keyboard, and
  23. printer is allowed.  This is a no holds barred competition. 
  24. Developers can use any tools, language, or program generators. 
  25. Only completed applications used as templates are prohibited. 
  26. First, second, and third place contestants will receive cash prizes
  27. ($5000, $3000, $2000) respectively.  Each competitor will receive
  28. at least $300 in software of their choice.

  30. -       The entry fee is only $200 per team member.  This includes
  31.         meals, a chance to win the prize money, product and the
  32.         "Proceedings".  More than this though, it is an exhilarating
  33.         experience.

  35. -       Your company will receive national recognition if it places
  36.         within the top ten competitors.
  37.  
  38. -       All competitors will receive at least $300 worth of software
  39.         development products of their choice.  See the list of prizes
  40.         awarded at the 1991 Developer's Competition.

  42. -       All competitors will gain invaluable experience as they see
  43.         first hand how other software developers work, the software
  44.         development environment they work in and why.
  45.  
  46. Only the first 100 teams will be accepted.  We must receive a
  47. completed registration with a deposit of $100 per member to be
  48. accepted.  Spectators can attend the event for $20 at the door. 
  49. Spectators who would like to attend the social events, the Friday
  50. night reception and the awards dinner must make a reservation and
  51. prepay $75.
